Le ceramiche di Este sono uniche al mondo per fattura, materiali e lavorazione, eseguita a mano ancora oggi. La produzione della ceramica è continuata pressochè ininterrottamente dalla preistoria a oggi, come documentano i manufatti conservati al Museo Nazionale Atestino, che esemplificano i diversi livelli di evoluzione del gusto e della tecnica. Dopo la battuta d'arresto medioevale, la manifattura riprende slancio nel Settecento, dopo che l'Europa abbandona i fornitori orientali di ceramica e si rivolge a produttori locali.

The ceramics of Este are unique in the world for the making, materials and handcraft, they are handmade even nowadays. Ceramics production has continued almost without interruption from prehistoric to the present times, as artifacts preserved at the National Musem of Atestino witness, they represent the different levels of evolution in taste and technique. After the setback during the Middle Age, manufactory was started again in the Eighteenth century, after that Europe had abandoned the suppliers of Oriental Ceramic and started demanding to local producers.
