Il museo occupa gli ambienti al piano terreno del seicentesco Palazzo Brugiotti, appartenuto a una delle più importanti famiglie del patriziato viterbese, e si articola in cinque grandi ambienti, con un percorso espositivo che presenta l'evoluzione della lavorazione della ceramica, a Viterbo e nell'Alto Lazio, dalle prime forme acrome a biscotto, a quelle invetriate, agli oggetti smaltati, sino al XIX secolo con le ceramiche a stampo per dolci. La gran parte dei manufatti ceramici esposti sono stati rinvenuti nei pozzi di scarico, definiti popolarmente "butti", dei centri storici dell'Alto Lazio.

The museum uses the rooms on the ground floor of Palazzo Brugiotti, owned by one of the most important families of nobles of Viterbo, and is divided into five large rooms, with an exhibition itinerary that presents the evolution of pottery in Viterbo and in the Northern part of Latium, from the first baked achromatic forms, to the glass ceramics, enameled items, up to the XIX Century production with cake molds in ceramics. The main part of the exposed ceramics have been found in the sewer pits, popularly called “butti”, in the historical city centres of Northern Latium.
